Here at Scattered Abroad, reaching people with the gospel is our mission. It’s our mission because it’s what we as Christians must do in submission to our Lord (Matthew 28:18-20).
I asked several of the Scattered Abroad Network’s podcast hosts to tell me their motivation to take the gospel to the people of this world in a few sentences. Here are their responses.
Interviewing SAN hosts about their motivation to evangelize.
What motivates me to take the Gospel to the lost is knowing the power the Gospel has in changing lives and eternal destinies (Rom. 1:16). Furthermore, I am commanded by the Great Commission to obey God (Matt. 28:18-20), equipped by God with His Word (2 Tim. 3:16-17), and honored to take the soul-saving Gospel to the hopeless and helpless. God has blessed us today with so many avenues of evangelism, which should motivate all of us to sow the Seed to His glory! - Drew Suttles
I’m motivated by the fact that someone else was motivated to teach me the Gospel. If it wasn’t for someone else, then I may not be where I am today. The Gospel is that which saves (Rom. 1:16), and it is also that by which we will be judged (John 12:48; 2 Cor. 5:10). On the day of judgment, we are all going to be judged on how we fulfilled the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16). - Caleb Rutherford
For me, the motivation is a love for souls and also knowing the punishment that awaits those who are not saved. “Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men” (2 Cor. 5:11). When you realize that one soul is worth more than the whole world (Matt. 16:26), then multiply that thought by untold billions of human souls, it helps you realize how much work we truly have to do. I try to always remember Jude 22-23: “And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.” - Chase Green
My motivation has always come from the fact that someone taught me because they loved me and my soul. I am grateful and will always owe that debt. Paul wrote: “I am a debtor…” and I feel that and need to tell all! Our Lord’s commission gives us the marching orders (Mat. 28:18-20; Mk. 16:15-16). May we never be ashamed but always ready to preach/teach (Rom. 1:15-16). - Wayne Rodgers
I am motivated to teach because of someone taking the time to teach my grandfather. Had he not spoken up, I would not even be here. Every opportunity I have to teach is to hope to influence change by spreading the Gospel message that can genuinely change the course of someone’s history. It's my responsibility to be a watchman and warn those in this world of what is coming (Ezekiel 3:16-27). - Michael Clarke
Our Lord did it, and I want to be like Him. - Matt McBrayer
My motivation is loving Jesus by doing the things he did. - Lima Esene

Introducing the “Days Gone By” Podcast
The Days Gone By podcast will feature sermons and lessons from preachers in “days gone by.” Many faithful gospel preachers have gone on to their reward; thanks to technology, we can still learn from them today.
You can listen to the first episode of Days Gone By below, where Thomas Warren gives a brief lesson about gambling on religion.
We hope you enjoy listening to various brethren on the Days Gone By podcast!
Our current plan is to send out two emails each month. The first email sent out at the beginning of the month will be a general update on the Scattered Abroad Network and a word from one of our directors.
The second email (this one) will go out around the middle of the month. It may include updates (like this one) and an article or thought from the Scriptures.
