Thanks to the Valentine’s Day holiday, February is associated with love.
Sticking with the theme for this month, have you ever thought about God’s love for you? I’m sure you have.
I asked a few of the SAN podcast hosts to share their thoughts on a passage about God’s love. I think you'll be encouraged by what they shared!
“What passage about God’s love stands out to you?”

Romans 5:6-11.
It’s breathtaking to know that God loved me while I was an enemy lost and dead in sin (Eph. 2:1). The love He demonstrated for me by sending His only begotten Son to die for me is evident and makes me want to live for Him (1 John 4:19).
If He loved me when I was an enemy, how much more is His love shown to me as His child? It’s a wonderful blessing to know the love of Christ and enjoy all spiritual blessings that are found in Him (Eph. 1:3).

The word "love" is somewhat lost on our society today. We talk about how we "love" sports, or we "love" pizza, or we "love" going on vacation. Sure, there is no doubt that we enjoy these things, but do we truly "love" them?
When I think about the word love, I cannot help but go to Romans 5:8. God, in His perfect nature, being so much more powerful and greater than His creation, allowed His Son to come to earth and to die for His Creation, is so hard to comprehend. But going even further than that, God allowed His Son to die for His SINFUL creation.
But here is where it hits home: you and I help make up that sinful creation (Romans 3:23). And despite being deserving of death (Romans 6:23), because of God's love for us, He has allowed us an opportunity to have an eternal home in Heaven with Him.
That's true love.

I like to think about Psalm 46:1 in relation to the fact that God is there for us. "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble."
I think about times when I have struggled with various issues, circumstances, and heartaches. Certain people were there for me during those times, while others were not.
I'm reminded of a country song that says, "You find out who your friends are" when times get tough. But I don't have to wonder whether or not God will be there for me because He always is. I've taken great comfort from Psalm 46 and the love that God shows simply by being a very present help in times of trouble.
Another passage is Psalm 139, where verses 7 through 10 say: "Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me."
God is always there for me, and that's proof of His love.
